Well, who would have imagined all this happening barely six weeks ago? Not me, since at the time I was preparing a release schedule for my new album Tin Can World, thinking about where I wanted to perform live and which festivals I’d be attending, as well as the videos I’d be shooting outdoors, with cast and crew, to promote it. Well, you know what they say about the best laid plans…
Obviously I’m not alone. There’s not a person alive who hasn’t been affected by it. Isn’t it strange how it takes something like this to put everyone on the same page? And to realise just what an amazing job the hospital workers, and basic service providers do even in better times, and how little recognition they get for it?
I’m still very hopeful that things will eventually get back to something like normal, but as someone who likes to write songs about topical issues and basically whatever I’m feeling at a point in time, I wrote a song about the virus and how it’s affecting people, called Virus Gong Round. You can watch the video on YouTube.
I’m still going ahead with the release of my album, which has been recorded and I’m really excited to get it out there. I’ll be releasing a single a month for the next four months followed by the full album. If you subscribe to my email list, you’ll get some free stuff and extra updates. My social media will keep you up-to-date with all that I’m doing musically - you can follow me on Facebook, instagram and Twitter.
Obviously, I’m not the only musician out there scrambling to promote my music in this environment but I am one of them and if you like what I do, I’d really appreciate the support.
I’m going to try to be more creative than ever and I hope I can bring some welcome inspiration or enjoyment to your lives so we can all come through this stronger than ever.
