The new single off my album is called Don't Be Lost At Sea. Not being much of a "sea person", I'm not sure where it came from, apart from being a good metaphor for not getting sidetracked or distracted by the waves that push you off course from the life you want to live.
It's the third single I'm producing from my album Tin Can World. It's done with a groovy bossa nova rhythm for the verses, but it then rocks out more in the choruses, with some big drums and guitars. So it's meant to be soothing but it'll get your blood flowing as well. I love bringing in unexpected changes in songs that take the listener by surprise.
Here are the lyrics:
Don’t be lost at sea
No matter how adrift you are
When your destination’s far
It’s out of sight
Day or night
Though you’d like to scream
When your Am mates have all bailed out
There’s no need to shout
You can find a dream
By the ocean stream
Look and you will find
Sights to ease your mind
Blue and yellow rays
Shimmer in the haze
Whatever’s on its way
Just feel the ocean sway
Watch a shooting star
Vanish from afar
Don’t be lost at sea
No matter how afraid you are
Though the water’s deep
There’s a sail to trim
And you can learn to swim
When the wind gets high
And a perfect storm’s about
It’s only passing by
So lose the doubt
And wait it out
Wait and you will be
Sitting here with me
Somewhere on a beach
No more out of reach
It always comes around
You’re lost and then you’re found
Though you’ve gone so far
Home is where you are
Don’t be lost at sea
No matter how alone you are
Find some company
Beyond the land
At your command
Let yourself be free
Wherever you may roam
It always leads you home
Just wait and see
Eventually
